Career Groups

Career Choice
This is a 10 week group designed to help people who are thinking about changing careers, in the process of a job change, or simply unhappy in their current occupation. The group will use guided discussion and exercises.

Topics include:

  • Beyond the paycheck - figuring out what really matters.
What are your values, needs and goals? What are your priorities? What things must you have, and what things can you live without?
  • Exploring your transferable skills and forgotten/hidden talents.
There's more to your transferable skills than just what you use at your current job.
  • Assessing your career path
Where have you been, where are you going?
  • Deciding whether to stay or go
Can you make this job/career work, and if not, then what?
  • Choosing a job/career that's right for you
Generating a list of possible options, and making choices that match your wants and needs. (You'll be surprised at the list the group will help you generate!)
  • Braving the fear of change - discovering and overcoming your personal barriers
What's stopping you from going for what you want? What can you do to get past these barriers?
  • Making a plan to get what you want - short and long term steps.
A plan that you can continue working on even after the group concludes.
